Experience the magic of a live to film concert. Every season our orchestra plays live music alongside a film screening. These are enchanting concerts where you can feel the sound of cinema.

Filmconcerten

Film with a live orchestra

The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra was born in the cinema: it was founded in 1918 by musicians who made their living accompanying films in the local theatres. With energy, guts and ambition, the orchestra grew into one of the most distinguished in Europe. Today our orchestra reaches audiences of millions worldwide with concerts and tours of the most famous theatres - with de Doelen in Rotterdam as its home base. Proud of its origins, the orchestra continues it’s tradition of film concerts: from classics with Charlie Chaplin to arthouse films during the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and blockbusters such as Star Wars and Harry Potte

An intense experience

With a live orchestra providing the soundtrack, experience your favourite film series in an epic new experience. After previously finishing The Lord of the Rings saga, in November 2024 we will conclude our Harry Potter series (in collaboration with  CineConcerts). But did you know that we’ve also performed many other films live with our orchestra?).

For music and film lovers

During our film concerts, we merge the worlds of classical music and cinema. An unforgettable experience that will appeal to both music lovers and film buffs. Whether you come for the beautiful compositions, the compelling stories or a combination of the two.
