How would The Four Seasons sound if they were written in our time? Composer Max Richter answers that question with Four Seasons Recomposed—a brilliantly radical reworking of the iconic masterpiece, where the boundaries between Baroque music and dance dissolve. A joyous revelation for fans of the original, and an eye-opener for anyone who thought they didn’t like Vivaldi.

We welcome you to join us at the supporting programme. It is dedicated to craftsmanship, tradition and innovation. Make your own corsage, learn calligraphy or step into the orchestra.
Doors open from 7.00 pm, and after the concert you are warmly invited to stay for a drink.

A treat for connoisseurs and a revelation for newcomers. In The Four Seasons Recomposed, Vivaldi’s iconic work is reimagined for the present day. How would The Four Seasons have sounded if it had been composed today? The original craftsmanship remains palpable, while the music takes on new meaning in the here and now.

This evening centres on attention, craftsmanship and reinterpretation. As with many traditional crafts, appreciation is growing for the handmade, the carefully made and the timeless. Rotterdam offers a natural breeding ground for this: a city where art and culture are constantly being renewed, and where disciplines such as calligraphy, floristry, dance and even culinary traditions are given a contemporary form.

Recomposed celebrates the fusion of tradition and innovation. It is a tribute to making with care, and to the power of looking, listening and shaping anew.

Join us and experience

Make your own corsage

Discover the art of adornment with Kore in this corsage-making workshop. Using organically grown flowers, twigs and seed pods, you will design a personal accessory that you can wear straight away. An inspiring and accessible session in which you will not only create something beautiful, but also contribute to more sustainable flower cultivation.

Learn calligraphy

Experience the essence of calligraphy in the project Our Traces. Guided by artist Hans Schuttenbeld, you will translate your presence into a single, deliberate brushstroke on a shared canvas. The workshop explores the connection between breathing, posture and materials. At the end, you will receive a personal fragment of the artwork: a tangible reminder of a moment of complete focus.

Discover wild flavours

Foraging is an age-old practice through which people once fed themselves and connected with their surroundings. Over time, much of this knowledge has been lost. During this tasting session, that tradition is brought back to life, combined with modern insights into our natural environment. An experience that brings together flavour, awareness and nature.

Enjoy contemporary dance

Let yourself be carried away by a contemporary dance performance led by Ewa Sikorska. Movement, rhythm and shadow come together to form a living landscape. The choreography pays tribute to the craft of composing and translates it into a contemporary, physical experience.

Step into the orchestra

What does it feel like to be part of an orchestra? In this interactive experience, you will discover what it is like to play an instrument, perform together and compose. With guidance from a music teacher and the help of modern technology, you will gain insight into how an orchestra works.
