Before and after the concert
Practical information for your concert visit
Mailings
As a ticket holder to a concert of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra you will receive before each concert an e-mail with information about the concert, practical information and other useful facts. If you wish to unsubscribe from this e-mail service, please do so via the link at the end of the e-mail. You can also indicate via this link what mailings you still wish to receive, such as our two-monthly newsletter. Although we do our best to ensure that mailings don’t end up in your spam box, we nevertheless recommend that you check there from time to time.
Concert introductions
Before virtually every concert you are invited to attend an introduction to the programme. These concert introductions, given by musicologists and by musicians from the orchestra, are organised by the Friends of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Members of the Friends Association can attend free of charge; other concertgoers can buy a ticket before the concert for €5 at the auditorium door (payment only by pin). These introductions commence an hour before the start of the concert. For the latest information about the introductions please visit the Friends Association website.
Programme notes
At our concerts we give out programme notes free of charge. Prior to the concert these programme notes can also be read without charge on the concert pages of our website.
How to get there
The venue for all concerts for which the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra sells tickets is the Concert- en Congresgebouw de Doelen, Schouwburgplein 50, Rotterdam. De Doelen is located in the heart of Rotterdam, within walking distance of Rotterdam Central Station, bus, tram and metro stops and various car parks. Click here for more information.
Wheelchair users and those with impaired hearing
The Grote Zaal of De Doelen is easily accessible to wheelchair users. These spaces should be reserved in advance by telephone. For concertgoers with impaired hearing an audio induction loop is available.
Surtitles
Most programmes that include sung works provide surtitling. The seats in the Orgelring and Podiumring have little or no view of the surtitles.
Interval drink
At all our concerts in De Doelen an interval drink is included in the price of your concert ticket. If a particular concert has no interval, you will be offered a drink before the concert. You can get coffee, tea, a glass of wine, beer or soft drink in the foyer. Luxury wines and champagne are also available at a charge.
Late arrivals
If you arrive late for a concert, you will be allowed into the concert hall during the next break in the programme. Those arriving late will not be entitled to claim a refund.
Programmes subject to change
Through unforeseen circumstances a concert programme may sometimes not be performed as originally intended. The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra will inform all ticket purchasers accordingly and will do its very best to offer a comparable alternative or to perform the programme on another date. A change does not give an automatic right to a refund. You can always find the latest information on our website.
Free lunch concerts
During each concert season you will have the opportunity to attend a number of open rehearsals (free lunch concerts). There is no charge for attending these open rehearsals, which start at 12.30 in the Grote Zaal of De Doelen (you can sit anywhere). You do not need to register in advance. To find out the dates of open rehearsals, please check our agenda.
Preferred Hotel
Finish off your concert visit with an overnight stay at Rotterdam Marriott Hotel, directly next to our concert hall. With it's luxurious rooms, it's star restaurant and it's ideal location, the Marriot Hotel is the perfect Preferred Hotel.
Exceptions reserved
You can always find the most up-to-date information about your concert on the concert page.
Information about de Doelen
The doors of de Doelen open approximately an hour and a quarter before the concert starts. Keep your ticket at hand, so that everyone can enter a little faster when it is busy. De Doelen has a free guarded cloakroom, where you can leave coats, large bags or backpacks. For safety reasons, these are not allowed in the Main Hall. For more information about a visit to de Doelen, visit the website of de Doelen.
