Lahav Shani chief conductor until 2026, after that in Munich
At the end of his second term in Rotterdam, from August 2023 to July 2026, Lahav Shani will become the next chief conductor of the Munich Philharmonic. We congratulate Lahav with this appointment and look forward to the next 3,5 years in which we will further develop this inspiring collaboration.
In 2018 Lahav became the youngest chief conductor in the history of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and he caused a stir with his performances ever since. From Bach to Bruckner and contemporary repertoire, as a pianist conducting from behind his piano and as a chamber musician between his fellow musicians. That musical bond will continue unhindered, in de Doelen and beyond. Upcoming highlights are Bartóks Duke Bluebeard’s Castle and Mahler 2, an Asia tour, a residency in the Musiceren in Vienna and a long awaited return to Carnegie Hall.
The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra will start searching for a new chief conductor.
