Yannick: Wagner and Schumann
Wagner’s intimate Siegfried Idyll, Mendelssohn’s love letter in sound, and Schumann’s vibrant symphony – a concert full of tenderness and enchantment.

Wagner never intended for us to hear his Siegfried Idyll. He wrote it as an intimate gift for his wife, Cosima. Financial hardship eventually forced him to publish the score—allowing this concert to open with twenty minutes of pure tenderness. Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto—also a musical love letter—and Schumann’s exuberant symphony complete the enchantment.
