Proms: Spring Is in the Air
Time for Vivaldi's Four Seasons, but Piazolla, hailing from the continent where it's just turning autumn, also makes an appearance.
Spring is coming! In our hemisphere, at least - in the south, as in Buenos Aires, the coldest months are just approaching. Piazzolla expressed them glowingly in his Estaciones Porteñas, counterpart to Vivaldi's Four Seasons. This concert shows that his tango and milonga rhythms fit beautifully with the baroque splendor of his northern colleagues. Spring or fall, summer or winter, north or south: let's dance!
