Music for Breakfast: the lost paradise
Breakfast concert on Sunday morning
It sounds like a fairy tale: the merchants of the Sicilian town of Siracusa, who sing like sirens touting their fish. Yet they really exist; Jacob ter Veldhuis incorporated their vocals into his Syracuse Blues. Alluring music – but how long will it be before the seas are fished out? Against that undertone of menace, this concert unfolds like a cycle of songs and prayers from paradise lost.
