Music for Breakfast: Horn of plenty
Breakfast concert on Sunday morning.
If history had taken just a slightly different course, Debussy's mercurial Violin Sonata would never have been written. The composer seemed to have lost interest in chamber music – until he heard a piece by Saint-Saëns that inspired him again. Debussy the impressionist and the classical Saint-Saëns, once the greatest opposites, now meet in this breakfast concert: a richly varied menu full of French music, with a starring role for horn and violin. Bon appétit!
