Hector Berlioz and Robert Schumann praised her to the skies. Her students adored her. Yet Louise Farrenc had to wait a long time for recognition, simply because she was a woman. But when she scored a hit with her opus 38, the Paris Conservatory could no longer ignore her. Finally, she received the same recognition (and salary) as her male colleagues. So, what was this composition that shattered the glass ceiling? Listen to that wonderful music yourself in this breakfast concert. Bon appétit!
