In the days before Christmas, this concert offers a glimpse of a better world in which everyone lives together in peace. Two centuries after its completion, Beethoven’s Ninth remains an unsurpassed masterpiece of humanity, with Pärt’s serene Fratres (‘brothers’) as a contemporary prelude. All humanity is united: especially in times like this, we need everything that gives wings to such hope.
